Dear Partner,

Mario Andretti once said, “If everything seems under control, you’re not going fast enough.” That feels a lot like HYC right now. Some days it feels like things are out of control— “controlled chaos” might be a better phrase—but God is clearly on the move.

In the next 21 days, here is what we have purchased or are in the process of purchasing for camp:

  • $6,500 – storage building

  • $6,000 – camper cabin flooring

  • $8,200 – dining hall flooring

  • $11,600 – drywall

  • $4,800 – doors

  • $15,000 – electrical upgrades

  • $10,500 – windows for the dining facility

  • $8,000 – vanities

  • $7,700 – showers

  • $2,400 – toilets

On top of that, tree removal is still underway, including the removal of around 50 stumps and excavation in several areas across the grounds, totaling another $6,000.

The exciting news is that we currently have enough funds on hand to cover all these projects, thanks to generous supporters like you who continue to invest in what God is doing at HYC.

Work is already ramping up at camp. Volunteers will be on site before the end of this week, with one work party this weekend and another the following week. These efforts lead into even more preparation for the team of about fifty workers from Chilton Builders who are scheduled to be with us April 12–17.

In the book Dream Big, Bob Goff writes, “Comfortable people seem to have all the opinions. Desperate people just have Jesus.”

We are in that place of holy desperation, asking Jesus to show up for us in a powerful way over the next few weeks. These days are critical as we work to make sure everything is ready for the start of camping season in mid-June.

If you pray for HYC, would you please keep these specific requests before the Lord?

  1. Inspections go smoothly and be completed on time.

  2. Need four more staff members to join us for this summer.

  3. Continued fundraising to provide scholarships for campers who otherwise could not attend.

  4. Ongoing funding as we build, renovate, and clean the new property.

  5. That more kids would be saved this summer than we have ever seen before—a big ask of a big God.

We are deeply grateful to you and the ongoing role you play in making HYC happen. Your partnership helps to change lives for eternity.

Sincerely,

Craig Walker
